Projects!

Yesterday, I started a 6 month course on photography projects. It’s being run by another photographer, one whose work I really enjoy seeing.

I signed up for it – and paid out real money – because I was starting to get lost artistically . I’ve been starting new things – trying new techniques, then enjoying them for a bit, and then moving on to the next thing – a bit like a hamster on an ever spinning wheel. It wasn’t working. I needed grounding, a reason, a project…

It sounds easy to say that I could have just ‘started’ one, but I really felt like I needed a push in the right direction. Not someone to tell me what to do exactly, but someone who could guide, encourage, and be realistic about my own expectations – who would be critical of the work I was producing….

So, the first zoom meeting – two and a half hours of chat with a couple of other creatives – and I have homework to do – a direction to go, and hopefully by the summer a complete (or nearly complete) project of work.

I’ve already committed myself to about 15 images, on a theme to be revealed later, with hopefully a home made book at the end. On which note, I’m booked onto a book making course in May – so hopefully it’ll all tie together…

In the meantime, I’ll try to get this blog going again – because writing things down helps with the grounding… also, it’ll be nice to share a few images on the way…….

So, while the rain beats down outside, and the wind howls around the swaying trees – here’s a drone photo from last summer when it was a bit warmer…..
