It’s not five minutes I’m sure since this time last year…… but time flies, as they say.
I’m very pleased though to be able to announce a few nice things, that feel like early Christmas presents.. Firstly, I entered the Wildlife Extra photography competition earlier in the year – specifically in the ‘bugs’ section, and out of over 2000 entries (competition wide) I had a finalist –
This rather nice shot of a Dew Laden Damselfly taken in Derbyshire earlier this year, which will be featured in a book to be released in the Spring of 2012.
What won? Oddly, another Damselfly, CLICK HERE to see the full results.
After that, we were pleased and delighted to learn that CBRE the world’s leading commercial property and real estate services advisers are using an image in their soon to be published coffee table book. A complimentary copy will be winging its way to me soon – can’t wait.
And as if it couldn’t get any better – we also have the front cover of a local magazine – “Inside Marple”, with a winter scene taken in January this year up in the hills….
All in all a successful start to December…… Roll on 2012
It was wonderful last week to use the prestigious Barlow Studios for a day long portrait shoot. Clients included a professional bodybuilder, and a model updating his portfolio.
Shooting a bodybuilder was fascinating – with a great insight into the competitive world that these guys have. Only a few of the images will be made available to the public – but this is one of my favourites from the session.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is calling for young photographers to enter this year’s prestigious RSPCA Young Photographer Awards. This year there are two new categories: the first one is for photos that illustrate how animals make people’s lives better, while the second one is called Garden Wildlife. A brand new website has also been set up to make it easier to take part and stay up to date with the competition. The overall winner of the Awards will go on an amazing three-day photography break with top wildlife photographer Danny Green, courtesy of Natures Images. Olympus cameras worth up to £500 are also up for grabs for the winners and runners up in each category. For more details and to enter visit the website below.
